The U.S. government lifted export restrictions on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models on July 1, weeks after ordering the company to limit foreign access over security concerns.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said Anthropic will proactively detect security risks and collaborate on standards for future releases. The models were briefly suspended on June 12 after researchers documented a safety bypass.
Anthropic also launched Claude Sonnet 5 for broader commercial use as access to its frontier systems is restored.
