There are wide murmurs in the political circles in Busoga over the absence of the Speaker of Parliament, Bukedea District woman MP and NRM’s 2nd National Vice Chairperson Annet Anita Among from all Presidential rallies in Busoga except one.
Anita Among who had been holding mobilization rallies with Balam Barugahara also called the Youth awake drives was widely expected given her closeness to Busoga that she once claimed she was the mother (Maama) Busoga.
Among, who by custom is the last person to speak and invite the President, attended all M7 rallies in Acholi, Lango,Sebei,Teso, Kramoja and Bugisu. She however skipped 9 rallies in all Busoga Districts except Buyende now her home. Did Maama Busoga abandon the children?
First, the grapevine had earlier indicated the President had told AAA to back off his rallies all over, this collapsed with her presence and active mobilization in Kigezi. Others claimed AAA was out of the country only to appear happy and active in Buyende. Why did Anita skip Busoga rallies!
In the corridors of power in Busoga, former Vice President Dr. Specioza Kazibwe led a regional team for Busoga, she appeared new and neutral to the role. Together with District Executive Committees secret to internal squabbles the team pulled off the task. Thanks to concerted efforts of RDCs and the Busoga women cluster of Persis Namuganza, Milly Babalanda, Justine Kasule Lumumba, Lukia Isanga Nakabama this time working together with their teams.
At all rallies, you would feel the absence of AAA, her teams being intimidated not even to mention the efforts she had put in softening ground through youth mobilization. The murmurs were almost everywhere, where is Anita.
AAA’s presence remained in the brand materials and youth groups led by a little known Meddy Gowa. Youths are used that AAA and Persis Namuganza are the only generous politicians who mind about their welfare at such public functions. AAA was absent but Namuganza carried the burden rally, after rally, youths swarming her vehicle and openly demanding to be fed.
Did Museveni stop AAA from attending Busoga rallies? Did Dr. Specioza, as a regional Head like to leave AAA out? Is team AAA dismantled at a critical time of battle? Where was AAA?
All lines give no answers but her absence was loud enough to be noticed. It’s the murmur among party members, how could the 2nd National Vice Chairperson skip a region she has called her second home to Teso, mobilized almost to every District? Where was AAA?
A senior leader of the party had intimated that given the CEC election conundrum, between, Rebecca Kadaga and Among, Museveni had thought it wise to allow Kadaga shine in her area and therefore pleaded with AAA to skip the rallies.
