FCC Sets Upper C-Band Spectrum Auction for 5G and 6G Services

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission confirmed plans to auction Upper C-band spectrum in the 3.98–4.14 GHz range, with the auction scheduled no later than July 2027.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said the move would support next-generation 5G and 6G connectivity, potentially delivering faster speeds and generating billions in treasury revenue.

The plan includes coordination with aviation and satellite operators affected by spectrum repacking, with incentives for companies such as SES and Eutelsat to migrate services.
