Rescuers Save Three-Year-Old Boy Six Days After Venezuela Quakes

Rescue teams in Venezuela saved a three-year-old boy on Tuesday, six days after back-to-back magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes struck on June 24. Officials said the disaster has killed at least 1,943 people and injured more than 10,500, with tens of thousands still unaccounted for.

International teams from the United States, Mexico and other countries continued search operations with trained dogs and heavy equipment while families buried victims they could locate. The World Health Organization warned that hospitals remain overstretched and under extreme pressure.

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez said the quakes were the most brutal natural catastrophe in the country's history, with widespread building collapses across La Guaira, Caracas and surrounding regions.
