The United States and Iran held technical talks in Doha on July 1 focused on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and securing a lasting ceasefire under a June interim accord.
Iranian officials said priorities include management of the strait and release of frozen assets, while the U.S. seeks safe passage for commercial vessels in a region that handles a major share of global oil and LNG trade.
The discussions follow months of conflict that disrupted energy markets and affected Gulf states hosting U.S. military bases.
